"I am fine with you marrying her Baldr...that's not the issue...I just want you to know and I want her to know...what you are both getting into. If she is fine with it, then I have no objections. I have no objections either way. It's what Moira wants...so just speak to her," he said simply then took another sip of his ale
-----
Eoghan approached him and gave his hand a shake. "If you're as good a mon as Fionn's harping on all the time I have no reason to distrust you," he said after a moment then turned to his son who was watching Cormack warily
Fionn smiled at Chloe. "I'll help you with the meal," she promised with a smile then glanced at her husband, leaning down and kissing his cheek, "Play nice husband. You are trying to impress my father," she said lightly then stepped from the hut to gather some kindling for the large pot outside. They had oats so it looked like some porridge would be made to take care of all of her father's men as they were a lot of extra mouths to feed.
-----
Moira looked at him as he sat deep in thought in the empty indoor armory and slowly approached him, sinking down on the wooden bench beside him. "What is it Baldr?" she asked curiously as she looked at him and lifted her hand, running her fingers through his light brown locks. She leaned forth and kissed him. "Tell me..." she whispered, taking his hand and threading their fingers together.
-----
Fionn looked at her husband as she helped prepare food for dinner in their hut. She had made sure to salt the rabbit and skin it so they could have a small supper tomorrow night. "You don't look that terrible. Honestly, I never knew you were so vain," she said then sighed. "He thought you were raping me. He hadn't been told otherwise. As far as he knew, you were some barbaric man hellbent on raping and pillaging like some long ago viking and I was the helpless victim of your assaults...and I was being rather loud this morning. My apologies," she said simply giving a teasing smile then putting down the knife and walking to him then wrapped her arms around his waist. "I'm being nice. You should appreciate my efforts," she said with a smirk then kissed him before drawing back. "And don't worry, he broken nose look only makes you look more manly," she teased him then drew away and turned, going back to the food. She was in charge of potatoes.

It took a moment for him to look up and see her beautiful face as blue eyes watched her for the briefest of moments with a slight child-like confusion. It was as if he had just woken up as he blinked coming back to reality to see that his siren, Moira was there and speaking to him. She spoke in his own tongue, the only one that he did not have to think of to speak. Yes, he knew a few languages since it was his speciality and yet, he did have to search for the words. "Ah..." He said trying to think of the words to explain. "Would you be happy?" He asked her simply.
"Do you think that you would be happy if I were to take you from here, your family... and friends?" He considered them her family despite there being a blood relation. "Would you be alright and glad to travel... or do you want to settle somewhere with a household while I travel?" It was not something that he could give up so easily but he would always return to her.
"I only think for your happiness because I do not want to see you upset..." He was being truthful in this matter since she had seen a numerous amount of hardship but then, so had he in his own way. Lifting her hand in his, he kissed it gently being that they were alone and he could be a little more affectionate to her then in the public. He wondered if she could survive the journey to the northlands and wondered if she would wait for him. "Would you wait?" He asked her gently. "Would you wait until I went across the sea and returned before we wed?"
---
"Oh fuck off, Fionn." He muttered at her teasing tone of voice since he was not in the mood at the moment. However, he instantly regretted what he had said to her as he looked up and frowned. "I am not being vain, I could not give a flying fuck about my appearance... It is painful... and..." There was also a bit of bruised pride that his father in law had snuck up on him while he had been making love to his wife. If it had been an enemy then, he would not have protected her and that was what upset him. "Sorry Fionn..." He rose from his seated position to go over to where she was at the cooking pot.
"It does not seem like a good deal for you but for myself... what if your father had been an enemy? I would not have been able to protect you because I had not known that he was there..." His skills were slipping and he had a feeling that he would be training more.

Moira looked at him in earnest as he spoke. She understood he was a traveller and that was his business but she also knew that she wanted to be with him. "I would want...to go away...with you...to travel...with you...until a child came along and then I would wait until that child was old enough to continue travelling with you...I want to see what you've seen, and I want to be with you...Waiting would be anguish..." She kissed his hands then leaned forth and kissed him on the mouth. "I would be happy with you Baldr. You obviously do not give yourself enough credit. Once I lived in a wooden hut that barely shut out the cold of winter. I'm sure I could live in the northlands where you hail from. I can travel...I want you...I don't want to wait a half year just to have you," she told him then ran her fingers through his hair and kissed him again.
-----
Fionn looked at him and sighed then looked down. "I had not thought about that..." she admitted then sat her knife down and turned looking at him. "But I am no wilting flower. I always sleep with a knife on me..." She swallowed. "I have since I was twelve years old after one of my father's knights tried to rape me. At twelve, I killed a man for trying to touch me...he was so close...to taking me...my father's dagger saved me. I am not some coward. I won't scream and faint if something like this happens. I'll take a dagger and run it straight through the man's heart..." she told him simply. "You have to put your faith in me that I can protect you as good as you can me," she told him simply then drew away from him going back to slicing the potatoes and peeling them.

He knew that it was not the best thing for her to be kissing him as he had a feeling that he would be going without her. Atleast until he could tie things up with his father in the northlands, it would take a few months but to do so would make everything already for them to wed. The Viking looked to the pretty young woman as he pulled her to him and kissed her deeply before pulling away. "And I know that I will be happy with you..." He whispered knowing that she would be stubborn and want to come with him to the northlands but he did not want to do that to her.
Baldr wished that he could take her with him but he knew that if he were to leave sooner then he would be back sooner to wed her. He did not know what came over him but soon, he was doing more to little Moira then simply kissing her in the empty indoor armoury. He was gentle with her as he held her close knowing that he had to have hurt and yet, she was a brave soul for not even crying out in pain.
Sometime later, he kissed her again as he was straightening out her clothes. "Come to my bed tonight, my sweet siren?" He asked Moira quietly as he squeezed her hand with his much larger one as he smiled knowing that he would return to her. He would leave a note and he would be able to return in the spring to have a wedding where she could put flowers into her hair and become a proper spring bride. However, she would not know any of this until he had left.
---
He looked over to her as she was cooking their dinner. "I suppose that you are right..." There was a reason that he married this woman as he smiled when he nodded. "Well, it is good that you killed the bastard who tried to rape you... and at such a young age. I will have to watch my back if I were to ever piss you off." He teased feeling a bit in a light hearted mood and breaking from his brooding state despite the pain in his nose. He would have to deal with his father in law and according to Fionn, her twin brother as well as the man that she was suppose to have been wed to.
Seemed that he chose the woman who was the pain in the arse and yet, he was feeling quite happy about being with this one. Perhaps, he was even falling in love with her... not something that he thought to be impossible but he had loved his first wife before... he pushed the idea far away from his head and mind. "I do have faith in you, Banshee." He said simply as he went over to kiss her on the cheek.

Moira smiled up at him. She hadn't expected making love to him on an armory bench and besides a pinch and some odd stretching, making love hadn't been terrible. At all. She took his hand and snuck upstairs to her room with him, shutting and latching the door then letting him kiss her all over and take her into his arms and by the end of the night, laying next to him, she knew she could never be happier than being wrapped up in her viking's arms.
----
Fionn glanced at him and smirked then took a deep breath and ran her fingers through her hair. "I hope so," she said then smiled at him and took a deep breath and continued with her work. "SInce my father is staying in the camp, let's lay off the lovemaking tonight. You don't need a sword through your chest," she teased him then smiled.
-----
Moira jerked the newly washed sheet off the line, fighting off tears. That bastard. How could he do that to her? Make love to her, promise her marriage and then leave. He was coming back, so the note said, but he wasn't. He had just seduced her well enough that she had fallen. She was so utterly stupid. Winter was in full and the snow had fallen for a few days but now the snow was let up and they had managed to do the wash. It finally gave her a chance to vent her frustrations. Especially after he had left her in her bed, fully satisfied with a note. Tears ran hot down her cheeks and she paused to wipe them away. Tears wouldn't solve anything. She glanced and saw Lady Aisling headed toward her and she turned away as she folded and dropped the sheet in a wicker basket then grabbed another off the line.
"I'm an idiot," she said as she folded the sheet and wiped her eyes again. "I let him seduce me. What if I am with child?" she asked, glancing at her then away, shaking her head and tugging another sheet down and folding it. "I'll shame you and Sir Ranulf...if I have a bastard by him...I thought...damn it all...I thought..." She shook her head and wiped her eyes again, sitting the folded sheet in the basket.
-----
Edwin slipped off his horse and walked through the crowd of people, catching glances from the men but he didn['t care. He was on a mission to retrieve his mother, pay the ransom and also collect his wife to be. What he saw however, made his blood boil when he entered the hut where business was commenced and saw Fionn kissing some savage. She drew away from the savages mouth and turned, suprise highlighting those pretty blue eyes of hers. "Edwin!" she exclaimed.
Edwin frowned at her then looked to the man in front of him. "You are chief Aron aye? You're the man I'm to pay the ransom too. well it's all in my wagon. flour, wheat, and ten sheep. I added in ten goats and some salted meats in order to ensure that my bride to be comes home with me. As was intended. Her brother is here is well. IF you want more, you will get it..." he swore then glanced at Fionn before turning back to Aron.
Fionn sighed. "Edwin...I cannot marry you," she said simply. Edwin turned and looked at her. He was a handsome man in his mid-twenties cut powrfully due to being a knight that had been in practice for near on ten years and a squire and page before that. His red-brown hair was cut short and was curly and his eyes a warm tawny brown. But now those eyes were focused and intent upon taking Fionn for himself. Yet now she was rejecting him.
"You are my betrothed...you have been a year," he spoke in French and she sighed, shaking her head.
"Nay, I am Aron's wife now..." she said to him then glanced at Aron before looking back at Edwin. "I am sorry Edwin...but I am married to him. You can keep my dowry...I have no use of it here...I...am with child...I was just telling him the news. We cannot..."
Edwin glared then turned his attention to Aron again. "You dare touch her...You steal my wife and murder my men...Have your ransom...But I am of a need for a wife damn you..." he spat out in French and Fionn winced then turned to Aron. Who probably had barely understood all that he said.
"He says that he will give you the ransom but because you took me from him, he is sorely lacking a bride and demands you give him one," she told him then winced as Edwin continued.
"ONe of my choosing, or I'll have this whole village attacked by my troop of one hundred and fifty men," he growled out. Fionn winced.
"If you do not consent," she began to repeat. "Then he'll attack you with his men. All hundred and fifty of them," she said sadly then glanced at Edwin.
"You are being unneccesary Edwin...I said you could have my dowry. Is that not enough?" she asked and he glared at her.
"Nay tis not. I wanted a wife, not a load of sheep and cattle for my lands," he growled out to her then looked to Aron with a menacing glare.

Looking to her adopted daughter, she listened knowing that the young woman had had too much heartbreak in her world and yet to have this dose from the man that she had hoped to wed. They had looked so happy together and yet, sometimes things were not meant to be. "Oh, Moira... you could never shame me... you know this and if Ranulf knows any better than he should not be shamed either." She smiled before pulling her dear friend and long time servant into her arms to hug and comfort. "It is alright to be heartbroken... he was just a jerk, there will be another man who will take your hand." Aisling whispered patting Moira's dark hair as she was weeping.
Of course, what if she was with child? Well, they would have to deal with that when it happened and she knew that Ranulf could most likely arrange for her to wed on of their soldiers since there were a number of men who were admiring her from afar. However, she also knew that Moira was not like that... she would want her freedom. Something that was partly her fault since she had been the one to refuse a number of men when she had been ordered to wed.
"Come... let's leave the laundry to someone else... I know that there is an Apple pie slice with your name on it, aye Moira?" She whispered trying to cheer her up knowing the Brenna was going to want to do the same. Aisling did not know of the note that the Viking had left the young lady either.
---
The vast army was many as she looked down the ridge to see all the men and her dark eyes stared with the fear of thirteen years before when everything had changed. Her basket fell onto the ground as she could see one man on a horse riding towards the village on the plateau. It seemed to strike her very core that something bad was going to happen if she did not stop it. The day haunted her memories of running and that man grabbing her and hiking up her skirts as he was putting at his trousers before Chloe had struck him with the rock and she had went on running, the blood of that filthy smelly Norman still stung in her nostrils...
She ran towards her Brother's home and yet, the lone man was riding like the devil to the same hut. The people of her village were running to their homes, some of the older ones remembering that day all to well. She had to tell her brother to give him whatever he wanted else... the same thing was going to happen.
The destruction and death, most of their family being dead... friends being sold to slavery. They could not allow that to happen again, Allison entered the hut with a swing of the door as she looked to the Norman and her eyes narrowed before looking to her brother and sister in law. Pointing to the Norman, Allison said. "Give him whatever he wants... you remember how stubborn Grandfather was and what happened!" Her hair was pulled back and tied at her neck, and she looked a little unkempt because she had been doing chores for the village and the winds of winter were getting harsh.
Aron looked up at his sister and frowned. "Do you even know what he wants, Ally?" He looked to the Norman who was threatening to burn their village to the ground. She shook her head before saying. "No, of course not... I can not speak that disgusting language." She said before looking to Fionn. "No Offense to your mother in law."
"Fionn, ask him what sort of wife does he want?" Aron said simply as Ally's jaw dropped. "He wants a wife?"

Moira glanced at her then away, walking with her. "He left a note. Said he would come back. After I told him I would go with him. If he were really coming back, he should of told me to my face Aisling. It was cowardly of him. I would of taken it better, and believed him more. But I'm thinking I'm just his bloody conquest...I am so foolish. Of course no man of breeding would want me," she sniffed, wiping her eyes. "I'm just a pagan savage's daughter who only recently became adopted to a high family but in everyone's eye, I'm still just a bondslave. I'd be better off a nun...at least God wouldn't stomp on my heart like this," she said then wiped her eyes. She shook her head and slipped into the keep finding the kitchen a deserted place and she slowly took a seat on the bench.
She wiped her eyes again, looking down as Brenna cut into the kitchen in a speedy pace and then came to Moira smiling and holding up a doll. "Here sissy...It's my favorite dollie...ye can have her...she always makes me feel better," the five year old said with a grin and Moira looked at her and gave a soft smile as she took the doll that was more of a lump of rags then drew her close and hugged her.
"Thank you sweeting," she said softly, drawing away and wiping her eyes again.
-----
Fionn glanced at Ally and nodded then turned her attention to Edwin who was gazing at Allison with a look of lust. He was angry now but she knew Edwin was not a violent man. He was just stewing. She took a deep breath. "Edwin...what kind of wife...do you wish to have?" she asked nervously, already knowing she was not going to like the answer.
Edwin stared at her. "I want you, but since I cannot, then I will have one of his sister's as a wife in your stead. He took from me so I will take something close from him," he said darkly.
Fionn closed her eyes then glanced at Allison before looking away. "He says that because you took me from him that he deserves someone close to your heart...One of your sisters..." she winced and looked at Allison, knowing she was the only one unwed. "You don't have to Allison...I'll go with him...I don't want to force you to do this for my sake..." she whispered then closed her eyes. This was turning out to be a big mess. Her hand went to her belly and she sighed. She could birth the child and let Aron care for it...and though it would break her heart, she knew that Edwin would still marry her despite having another man's babe. She was not married to Aron in the eyes of the church, but she could be with Edwin. And if she did that then Edwin would be satisfied. She might be heartbroken, but everyone would be safe.
"I know well how you feel about men Allison...Edwin's a good man, he won't hurt you I know it...he's just angry because he thinks that he loves me...When all we ever had was a kinship...But I will take your place," she swore. "I don't want you to sacrifice yourself when the blame is on my shoulders for not allowing my father to take me back home."

Her green eyes looked to Moira for a moment with a raised eyebrow and a look of anger as she took a breathe. "Men can be pigs, we both know this..." She had seen her fair share of men being like this including her own husband before the man had wed her. Then, she had had her fair share of fornication. "You were seduced by a man without a backbone... there is no shame in that, Moira." The Viking had been very handsome and from what the young woman had said about him before, she had been in love with the man. And for him to use that against her and take her virginity, well... the man was a bastard.
Sighing, Aisling shook her head as she said to her adoptive daughter. "You are not a bondslave... you were but now, you are a proper young woman and there are a number of men who are looking your way. Not just a butcher's son... Perhaps because of a dowery but also because you are pretty and you are kind." She said before her five year old daughter came in and handed the rag dollie to her older sister as Aisling could not help but smile as she lifted Brenna up. Her son, Sean was sleeping but would need to be fed soon enough.
"Do not worry so... Moira, whatever happens... we are your family and we love you." Aisling said as she was hugging Brenna to her as the little girl reached out to be lifted from the young woman. "Can I leave her with you while I go check on the wee one?" She asked.
---
The truth was that Allison knew some French but not even Fionn knew of this as the young woman looked to her brother for a moment and to her sister in law who rubbed her stomach. Was she with child and if that was the case than it would be a child of their clan and yet, this man with the little stache was wanting to take her away from her brother. Tucking her hair and behind her ear, Allison knew what she had to do and yet, she was fearful since the man was a Norman knight.
"Tell him that I will wed him if he does something with that stupid looking moustache that he looks to be trying to grow on his upper lip..." She said to her sister in law with her hands on her hips trying to be brave as if to stare the man down for looking at her like he was. "And to stop looking at him with the eyes of a man who has never seen a woman." She crossed her arms speaking in her own language.
Aron could not help himself by laugh. "It is a stupid moustacle... can not grow a beard like a real man... ask him if he is sure that he does not want a few sheep... they make good wives as well." He was of course making fun of the man because he knew that he did not understand a word that he was saying. However, the truth was that he did not wish either his sister or his wife to leave since Allison was the one who seemed to keep the camp in order.
"Allison, are you offering yourself to this Norman?" He spat as she closed her eyes and nodded. "I suppose that I am... Fionn is quite happy here and well, I am unwed." Allison sighed knowing that she was going to fight tooth and nail so he would not think of touching her.

Moira glanced at her and nodded then took a deep breath. "I am sure...I'll feel better in a few days," she said, trying her best to sound chipper but she could barely rouse up the sound in her voice. She swallowed hard then put on a smile and nodded. "Of course," she said wiping her eyes then taking Brenna's hand.
"Can we go to the great hall. Papa is playing chess with Sir Alex," she said simply and Moira nodded, leading her up the stairs and into the great hall where Sir Ranulf was enjoying time with one of his knights playing a game he was truly terrible at. She decided a game of pick up sticks would do well to entertain her little sister and she quickly gathered a bit of bound twigs and tossed them upon the table in a disarrayed pile. At least, while playing with Brenna she could forget her troubles. If only for the moment.
-----
Moira was by herself a few days later. Everyone was mostly inside and she had taken a path down to the old cottage that was a good mile from the keep and main village. It had been her hideaway as a child, her little place. Almost like she had her own home where she had daydreamed of a husband and lots of little children. Her menses were due today and besides a bit of spotting, there was no proof and so she was unsure as to if it were stress or her body already reacting to a pregnancy. Only God knew and he sure wasn't telling.
Entering the small cottage, she put some kindling in the fireplace and sighed as she lit a fire. Despite it all, she could still feel Baldr's hands on her body, still feel heat at the remembrance of his kisses. Why he had chosen to leave her behind after she had said she would go with him, the hearbreak he had caused by making love to her only to disappear before she woke. A tear fell down her cheek and she wiped it away then heard a noise behind her and turned to see the door opening revealling the butcher's son Colm. She frowned as he entered and approached him, pushing him toward the door.
"Get out!" she exlaimed but he only laughed.
"Not till I get what I came for," he hissed at her and then slapped her and hit her on the back of the head hard enough that it knocked her into blackness and she collapsed on the floor in an unconcious heap.
-----
Fionn looked at her, knowing that Allie was as stubborn as herself so she turned to Edwin and sighed. "Allison here, is Aron's brother and she promises to wed you as long as you promise to trim off your moustache..." she told him. He snorted, glancing at her again then returning his gaze to Fionn.
"Fine then. Tell her we are leaving in an hour so she had best get her things ready," he said simply. "And your brother wishes to see you..." he said then turned and strode from the tent. Fionn sighed and walked over to Allison, hugging her tightly. "I promise he is not terrible. His bark is worse than his bite I swear it...and if you don't want to do anything, he won't force you...I promise..." she said then drew back. "I will definitely be coming to visit you...I promise..."

Dermot was just as pissed off as his father had been before him as he was waiting to see his older sister, despite them being only a few minutes apart... he was very protective of her and had been since they were children. Whenever she was to be punished, he had tried to take the blame... however, he knew that he could not protect her from everything. He had already seen his father and was happy to know that the old man had broken his new brother in law's nose, after all... the man was a filthy savage.
Waiting outside, he watched as his sister who was dressed in homespun clothing like that of these people as well as a man with dark hair and darker eyes came out of the hut along with Sir Edwin and a young woman with a frown on her face as she was glaring at the knight. "Fionn?" Dermot said as he hopped off his horse and went over to her. "Father told me that you have chosen to stay with the savages rather than..." He shook his head at her. "Why?" He questioned thinking that it was ridicious that this was an issue.
In the meantime, Allison was trying her best not to cry knowing that she was to leave her family and friends to go to an unknown land where she knew no one and nothing. The first place she went to see was Chloe along with her nephew... she also had a number of friends that she was to say goodbye to before going to her little hut where she lived alone to pack up all that belonged to her. The stray cat that she took care of would be left alone unless she took him with her but one of the village's children offered to take the cat from her to care for. Still, it was a heart felt goodbye as she had her bag of things that was needed along with her horse, or rather... it was a pony.
An hour was certainly not enough time to do what she had to do but despite what happened, she was ready right on the hour mark if not a few moments later as the prisoners were being released to return with Sir Edwin's army. Ally looked to Fionn as she was hugging her. "You promise that he will be kind to me..." She said with a flat tone as she glanced at him as he was talking with someone else. "He is not cruel?" He did not look cruel but then, a number of men did not look cruel and yet, they were.
